The role

Uncertain times call for certain measures and, for L&C customers, they come in the form of protecting the things that matter most: their homes, families and lifestyles. But being a Protection Adviser during this ongoing period of uncertainty not only offers L&C customers a sense of reassurance that they’ll be taken care of if anything goes wrong, it also offers you quite the level of security too – a steady career with real prospects for development.

When talking to our customers, you’ll use that great empathic ear of yours to really hear their concerns so that you can deliver the right kind of insurance. Often a customer might not know exactly what it is they need, so you’ll be advising them on options such as Critical Illness Insurance, Income Protection and Life Insurance documenting your findings and recommendations throughout the process. It’s all about giving them that sense of security that, when faced with unforeseen circumstances, they and their loved ones are as well protected as possible.

As L&C is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), compliance is an important part of this role. You need to ensure you deliver advice within strictly defined regulatory rules and guidance as well as adhering to the internal quality standards L&C has put in place. What is important is that you deliver that perfect balance of outstanding customer care, regulatory adherence and impressive workload efficiency to exceed your performance targets and KPIs. That will be achieved through eagle-eyed attention to detail, a warm friendly approach that builds rapport and trust, and working closely with your colleagues to ensure customers have the right protection in place at the right time.



FCA Certification Regime & Conduct Rules

L&C is classified as an “Enhanced Firm” under the FCA’s Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR). This role will officially fall into the “Conduct” element of the regime, meaning you will be personally subject to the 5 FCA Conduct Rules if successful in your application. You may already be aware of these but don’t worry if not. If successful in securing an interview and role a detailed explanation and training will be provided.

In addition, as this is a customer facing advice role, L&C has made the decision to treat all Advisers (Mortgage & Protection) in the same way, so we will seek to ensure and attest to your integrity, competence and financial soundness in the same way we do with our Mortgage Advisers. Rest assured full information and a training and awareness exercise will make this clear to you if you’re successful in your application.
