Purpose of the role:

At L&C we care about our customers and understand that buying a home is likely to be the biggest financial commitment they make.

As a Protection Adviser you will be responsible for helping our customers protect the things that matter to them most. Buying a home isn’t just about the mortgage, it’s about getting peace of mind. As a Protection Adviser you’ll contact customers by telephone and email to discuss their options when it comes to protecting their family and home.

You’ll advise customers on products such as Critical Illness Insurance, Income Protection and Life Insurance. Your aim is to help customers understand how to protect their property, family and lifestyle in the most appropriate and affordable way. This is an employed role and you will only be dealing with existing L&C mortgage customers who are taking out a mortgage.

  • You’ll be a motivated, enthusiastic team player who demonstrates our core values at all times.
  • You’re able to establish good relationships with customers quickly. You’ll be a great verbal communicator, able to explain sometimes complex products in a way that is easy to understand. Your written communication will be equally strong as you’ll be in touch with customers and colleagues using email regularly.
  • You’ll enjoy participating and co-operating with others in the team and will actively seek opportunities for self-development.
  • Ideally you’ll have some insurance or finance based experience, but energy, attitude and enthusiasm are all equally important.
  • You’ll enjoy working at a fast pace and won’t shy away from activity, quality and advice standards.

  • A bit about the role

  • L&C operates in a highly regulated environment (Financial Services) and has been designated enhanced status under the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR). This role will be subject to the same rules as L&C's certified employees.
  • The role is about protecting our customers, so you’ll get to know them, understand their needs and review which provider and products best suit those needs. You’ll make tailored recommendations for them and ensure that the application process goes smoothly too.
  • You’ll be expected to meet high quality and compliance standards.
  • You’ll ensure customers are treated fairly at all times and that their reasonable expectations of performance and service are met.
